The dbx 166XL, released by the dbx brand (Harman) around the year 2000, is a legendary dynamics processor that combines compressor, limiter and noise gate in a single rack unit. It became a standard for democratizing VCA-based professional sound, being the evolution of the classic 166A. Main features: Dual Channel: Works in stereo mode (linked) or as two independent channels. Dual Compression: Allows you to choose between OverEasy mode (smooth and musical transitions) or Hard Knee (rigorous control). PeakStopPlus: A peak limiter designed to prevent clipping without distorting the signal. Smart Gate: Noise gate with algorithms that guarantee natural closures, ideal for vocals or drums.
