The Rane Twelve MK2 replicates the feel of a vinyl turntable using a 12-inch motorized platter, but it doesn't use a tonearm, stylus, or conventional records. It directly controls DJ software via USB MIDI or DVS signal, avoiding the needle skip issues common in traditional setups.

Yes. In addition to Serato DJ Pro, the Rane Twelve MK2 allows you to work with Traktor and Virtual DJ via its DVS connection. This offers more possibilities than the original model, especially for DJs who use different software platforms and want to maintain the feel of a motorized turntable.

The OLED screen displays information such as BPM and connection mode status. It also identifies the selected deck and provides information on the device's operation. Combined with integrated navigation controls, this makes selecting and loading tracks easy, eliminating the need to constantly rely on a computer.

Yes. The Rane Twelve MK2 allows you to select and control up to four decks using its dedicated buttons. It also features Instant Doubles for quickly duplicating a track between decks. However, the number of decks available will depend on the capabilities of the mixer or interface used.

Yes. It's a particularly interesting option for scratch and turntablism DJs looking for a professional motorized turntable with USB MIDI and DVS connectivity. Buying a refurbished unit allows you to access its features, OLED screen, and integrated controls for a more affordable price than a new one.

The Rane Twelve MK2 boasts significant improvements over the original model, particularly in navigation and connectivity. It adds an OLED display, dedicated controls for browsing and loading tracks, navigation buttons, and an Instant Doubles function. It also features RCA outputs with DVS signal, allowing for timecode control of Serato, while retaining USB MIDI connectivity. Both models share the 12-inch motorized platter, the 5 kgf/cm motor, and the torque and pitch adjustments. The original Rane Twelve retains the essential features for scratching and turntablism, making it a more affordable option if you don't require the MK2's additional functions.

The Rane Twelve MK2 and the Pioneer DJ PLX-CRSS12 are two professional turntables designed for scratching and turntablism, though they have some key differences. The Rane is a dedicated controller with a 12-inch motorized platter, USB MIDI connectivity, and a DVS output, while the Pioneer combines analog vinyl playback with DVS control without the need for a tonearm and stylus. The PLX-CRSS12 features four MIDI Performance Pads, an OLED display, and compatibility with Serato DJ Pro and rekordbox. The Rane, on the other hand, offers integrated controls for selecting and loading tracks, an Instant Doubles function, and control of up to four decks. Both offer a very precise scratching experience, but the Pioneer is more versatile for those who also play traditional vinyl, while the Rane is an excellent choice for those seeking a dedicated motorized controller.
